Ramblings of a Stay-at-Home Mom

Hello again! I have to say that it's nice being able to get back into a (somewhat) regular blogging routine. I really missed it over the summer, so now that it's cooler outside and I'm not spending majority of my time at the park, I can get back  into my regular writing and scrapbooking. Enjoy! Week 24:  This week was when I documented Week in the Life. A lot of good little memories and photos to hang on to. Week 25: This week was crazy. Lots of park time, 2 days at Summer in the City and a Garth Brooks Conert Summer in the City: We spent majority of 2 days at the local fair held here in town every June. The girls rode lots of ride and had quite a bit of fun. Garth Brooks Concert:   BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE!!! Week 26: Pretty laid back week. Lots of time at the park, got Violet started on the original Mario Bros. for the NES and working in the garden.

Another couple weeks of my Week in Review pages done! I'm seriously so happy that I decided to go with doing digital pages, because it just makes it so easy for me to do a couple weeks at a time. These couple weeks were pretty busy ones, so enjoy! Week 21: This week marked the end of my Mom's Group and we enjoyed our annual Spring Brunch that we always have. It was also the end of Pre-School for Violet, which meant that she had her first end-of-year concert! We also had an ER trip for Violet, which confirmed a nasty ear infection. Very thankful for anti-biotics. We also tilled up the ground for our garden and had lots of playing outside. Week 22:  This week included spending some time with Grandparents and Great-Grandparents, planting everything in the garden, going for lots of walks and celebrating my 31 birthday by seeing X-Men: Apocalypse with my sister. Week 23: This Week was pretty low key. More garden work, Costco shopping trip, lots of walks and Splash Park and just enjo...

Why hello blog! Long time no see (almost)! After putting off my scrapbooking for a while, I'm finally getting back into it and wondering why I let it sit on the wayside for a while. I was debating for a bit to go back to doing my scrapbooking Project Life style, but I looked up prices of printing everything off, and doing this size (8.5x11) was still way cheaper than doing a 12x12. I figured I'll just find a way to incorporate the filler cards that I like to my scrapbook pages. Once that decision was made, it was pretty easy to sit down one evening and whip up a couple weeks worth of pages. I'm still working on coming up with some new layouts, just so that I'm not using the same designs every time. But I love how these ones turned out!! Week 18:  This was a bit of a busy week, especially for Violet. She had her eye appointment (20/20 vision!) and also her year-end awards for Cubbies. She got her book completion and was very proud of herself! Week 19: Another busy week ...

Like i said, catching up on this year's Week in Review posts! Week 11 just sucked all around. Dominique was sick for most of the week (feverish on and off and no interest in doing nothing except sitting on Mommy's lap). Violet started getting sick as well, but she still managed to go to the Pre-School Spring Fair. Week 12 was somewhat back to normal with Pre-School and Awana's . Keith also got his acceptance letter for college and Dominique had an night with just Mommy & Daddy as Violet went to Grandma for the night. Week 13 was lots of fun for Violet. She got to go to a friend's birthday party, and even though it took her about 45 minutes to warm up playing with the kids, she did great afterwards and didn't want to leave! Week 14 meant that is was Spring Break around here, which meant that we had no Pre-School or Awana's! Made the week feel a little less hectic, but a little bored at the same time. Luckily we were able to spend about 1/2 a day out at my Dad...

It seems that I've been neglecting this blog for  while lately. I hit a bit of a creative slump and even though I was taking photos and jotting down notes in my journaling, I didn't want to do any scrapbooking of any sort. And if I did, I didn't feel like blogging about it. I'm hoping that I'm finally over that slump and able to get back to being creative again. So I'll be sharing a couple weeks at a time here on the blog and then gearing up for my Week in the Life next week! (more on that later) I was very much looking forward to Week 7! I had my Spa Date with my best friend, and even though it didn't go according to plan (a couple schedule switch-ups), it was still a lovely time out and much needed for the both of us. Week 8 was very exciting, especially for Violet. She had her Valentine's party at Pre-School and she also got to go see Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream. Welcome to Weeks 05+06 of my 2016 Week in Review! Week 5 (January 25-31) was pretty good. Lots of time spent with the girls, new stove and fridge delivered (!!!), and just enjoying watching my girls grow up so big. Sigh. For my Week 05 layout, I grabbed one of my templates that I had made, as well as some digital embellishments, the weekly word art from Ali Edwards, and the digital paper. It all came together nicely! I do have to say that my favourite photos from this week is the one of Violet with the foals (baby horses) and Dominique helping me with the dishes. For Week 06 (February 1-7), it was a bit harder choosing photos. I realized that I took quite a bit of Violet this week and not a whole lot of Dominique. I think I managed to even it out, hopefully. Again, it's another one of my layouts, and I used one of the digital paper that I had on hand. As per my new 2016 album changes, here's the layouts for Week 03+04 Week 03 was pretty easy to put together. I had made some pre-designed templates for myself in the 8x11 size, so it was pretty simple once I figured out how many photos I was using.  The background paper is from the PL Cinnamon Kit , with the weekly word art from Ali Edwards (can't find a link to it). Week 04 was pretty easy to put together as well. A couple quick edits on the photos, grabbed the weekly word art and some hearts (can't remember where I got those from), and voilà! I'm going to try to stay on top of posting my layouts on Wednesdays, as that gives me a couple days to get everything done.

So I've decided to make some changes regarding my 2016 album. As much as I love working with Project Life, I find it a bit restrictive when using the App. I find it very useful for doing the girls’ albums, but when doing my weekly layouts (or my travel album), I find that I'm getting a bit bored with it. I mean, it’s nice and all for being super simple, but after a while, all the pages look repetitive will the all the pockets the same size, just different layouts. I think the other problem (for me) is that the pages/albums only come in 8x8 or 12x12. So either really small or really big. And either decently priced or outrageously priced for a print (average price of a 12x12 print is $2), especially when you’re looking at doing a digital book. And that’s just money that I don’t have to throw around for books, even though I’d really love too. And while I've been using the App for over a year, I do find it really restrictive.
